The Sophie Cunningham Podcast features WNBA athlete and ESPN commentator, Sophie Cunningham, the University of Missouri’s all-time leading scorer and current member of the Phoenix Mercury. Sophie reflects on her basketball journey, discusses her family’s influence, and the coaches and players that have been apart of her life. Cunningham explores how these people, and events have each shaped her life. Sophie dives into the politics of college, pro ball, deconstructs the business side of women’s pro sports, and the inequalities that female athletes face.In addition, she explores her individual work ethic, values, ethos, and how it’s been guiding her to prepare her life beyond sports. SOPHIE CUNNINGHAM

Sophie Cunningham grew up in Columbia, Missouri where she was a high school McDonald’s All-American basketball player. Cunningham went on to play for the University of Missouri on a basketball scholarship.The Mizzou all-time leader in points, and free throws was drafted 13th by the Phoenix Mercury in the 2019 WNBA draft, where she is currently in her third season with the team. Off the court, Cunningham has done broadcasting work with ESPN, covering the women’s SEC and NCAA tournament. Outside of basketball Sophie loves being outdoors, either at the beach or on her family’s farm riding horses and four wheelers, hiking and hanging with her family. She is also a Christian and enjoys working to grow and better herself in her faith.
